FAQ

How do I store ferments and how long will they last?

We advise our products should be kept in the fridge. This is because, they are ‘raw, live and unpasteurised’ and so full of the heathful gentle bacterias and pro-biotics. If they get warm, they will begin to ferment again, the living bacteria will produce carbon dioxide, the lid may bulge, and liquid may begin to leak out under the pressure. This is perfectly natural and demonstrates the bio-activity of the products. This does not mean the products have ‘gone off'. Our ferments have a ‘best before’ date of 3 months from manufacture. We offer the industry standard advice to eat within 15 days of opening. In real terms most ferments will be absolutely fine a long time after this.

How do you do deliveries?

If you order online you can collect at the Earth & Fire Bakery at the Rising Sun Farm. We ship out Monday to Thursday and if you order before 1pm we will aim to get your order out the same day. Our ferments will last several days without cooling, without causing any food safety issue, but we prefer to get them to you nice and cool! When you receive your product, you may find a small amount of juice has leaked out of the jar. We hope this will be caught by the bag! This is because the products are ‘live, raw and unpasteurised’ and are teeming with Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB), a ‘good bacteria’ beneficial for digestion, physical and mental health.

You will be provided with tracking information when your order is shipped, please be vigilant for your order and notify the courier of alternative delivery instructions should you not be home to receive it. If your order doesn't arrive as notified, damaged or has any issues, please notify us.

What is the cost of shipping?

We charge a flat fee of £4.95 for shipping.

Is your packaging packaging recyclable?

Our main packaging is 100% recyclable / compostable. It is simply cardboard and a clever product that crinkles brown paper to make an insulating wrap, and brown paper gummed tape. We include cool packs, which are frozen to help maintain the chilled temperature. At present we are unable to source recyclable cool packs due to unprecendented online demand globally. We do recommend reuisng the gel packs for your home picnics, camping etc. We use a single use plastic bag to wrap each jar. This is in case of leakage from the jar.

What is your refunds / returns policy?

All of the items for sale on our website are considered perishable items under consumer law. Under these regulations you have no right to return perishable food items.

You should check your delivery upon receipt, if there is any damage or any defects, please notify us. We will replace or refund any such products.

It is your responsibility as a customer, to ensure you are able to receive your products at the specified delivery address and time. If we are unable to make the scheduled delivery, or have to return at another time for reasons outside of our control, such as problems experienced by the courier, weather, personnel issues etc, we are unable to accept blame or liability for any loss or disruption that may be incurred.
